Wolfenstein 3-D is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software, and published by Apogee Software in 1992. It is the first game in the Wolfenstein series.
Wolfenstein 3-D is set during World War II, where players control William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, a member of the American resistance imprisoned in Nazi Germany’s Wolfenstein Castle. Blazkowicz must escape the castle and defeat the Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler.
The game uses first-person shooter gameplay, in which the player controls Blazkowicz using the arrow keys to move and the mouse to aim and shoot. Blazkowicz can carry two weapons at once and can pick up weapons and ammunition from slain enemies.
Wolfenstein 3-D was praised for its groundbreaking gameplay, cutting-edge 3D graphics and engaging music. The game helped popularize the first-person shooter genre, and is considered one of the most important video games of all time.
