Pikmin is a real-time strategy and puzzle video game developed by Nintendo and published for the GameCube in 2001. The game was directed by Shigeru Miyamoto and produced by Takashi Tezuka.
In Pikmin, players control Captain Olimar, an Earthling astronaut who crashes on an alien planet. To escape, Olimar needs to collect 30 fragments of his spaceship. However, the planet is populated by tiny creatures called Pikmin, and Olimar must use them to complete his mission.
Pikmin come in three types: Red Pikmin, Blue Pikmin, and Yellow Pikmin. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses. Red Pikmin are strong and can attack enemies, Blue Pikmin can swim and Yellow Pikmin can jump high. Players can use the unique abilities of each Pikmin type to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.
Pikmin was critically acclaimed, and it is considered one of the best GameCube games of all time. The game has sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide.
