Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is a fighting video game developed by Midway Games, and released in 2002 for the GameCube, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. It is the sixth game in the Mortal Kombat series.
The game is set after the events of Mortal Kombat 4 when Shao Kahn was defeated and sealed in Soulnado. However, two new characters, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, found Shang Tsung’s remains and merged them together. This combination has created a new force, more powerful than Shao Kahn.
The game features similar gameplay to previous Mortal Kombat games, with one-on-one or two-on-two matches. However, the game introduced several new features, including a Combo Breaker system that allows players to break their opponents’ combos, and a Weapon Fatality system that allows players to perform Fatalities with weapons.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was highly regarded by critics, with an average score of 86/100 on Metacritic. The game has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling game in the Mortal Kombat series.
