Pokemon Colosseum is an action role-playing video game developed by Genius Sonority and published by Nintendo for the GameCube in 2003. The game is the first installment in the Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness trilogy, and a direct sequel to Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
In Pokemon Colosseum, players take on the role of an unnamed character, a former employee of Team Snagem, a criminal organization that kidnaps wild Pokemon and uses them in combat. The player character is tasked with collecting all 108 Shadow Pokemon, which were kidnapped by Team Snagem and transformed into Shadow Pokemon.
Players can use their Shadow Pokemon to battle other Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum battles. Colosseum matches are three-on-three matches, and players can use any Shadow Pokemon they want.
Pokemon Colosseum received positive reviews from critics for its graphics, gameplay, and story. The game was also a commercial success, selling over 2.8 million copies worldwide.
